The following section, Migration – Denmark, contains information and conditions which must be fulfilled in order for women to obtain a residence permit in Denmark and – where applicable – a work permit.
The section is divided into three parts. Part 1 (Entering Denmark) gives details of conditions under which a migrant may legally enter Denmark. In most cases she can apply for a visa which permits her to enter the country and remain there for a limited period of time. This initial residence permit – in the form of a visa – is described in Part 1 (Entering Denmark). Possibilities for entry into the country vary according to the purpose of the intended stay, and are detailed separately in the text by reason for staying
Information is given regarding conditions for entry, documents required and the duration of the visa, as well as whether or not the woman who holds the visa is permitted to work.
Part 2 (Staying in Denmark) indicates the length of time and the conditions under which the woman may, having legally entered the country, extend her stay in Denmark, as well as conditions under which the initial residence permit – mostly obtained in the form of a visa – can be extended. As in Part 1, the section is divided into categories according to the different reasons for staying. In addition, it contains information regarding possibilities for obtaining Danish citizenship.
Part 3 (Leaving Denmark), paragraph 1 (Reasons), indicates reasons which may lead to the woman’s being forced to re-depart the country. Paragraph 2 (Consequences) contains information regarding consequences for a woman who is expelled or deported from Denmark, and whether this is likely to become problematic if she subsequently wishes to re-enter Denmark.
