A. Health Care Schemes (State-Organised)

1. Migrant Sex Workers with a Residence Permit

Sex workers can register within the social security system except for prostitutes. Sex workers even have to have a valid health care scheme, (private) or state-organized. Also, foreigners who are registered in the country where they usually live can apply for state-organized health care schemes like any other Portuguese citizen (except prostitutes).

2. Migrants without Legal Status

Migrants without legal status are not included in the health care schemes if they are registered in the county they usually live in. In case of emergency they receive treatment in hospitals, but then must pay for the treatment.

B. Private Health Insurance

In theory it is possible to obtain private health insurances, but impossible in practise for sex workers and prostitutes.

2. Other Social Security Schemes

Migrant sex workers can register for pension schemes and social security benefits, except they work as prostitutes.
